This project is a Fort Replica of the original Fort Augusta provincial fort which was originally constructed in July 1756. It was the military headquarters of the American forces in the Upper Susquehanna Valley. In the 1930's the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania purchased the land and the Hunter House. Together they form the Fort Augusta property now owned by the Northumberland County Historical Society.
